Got this in our inbox today. I really like the beat on the song above (samples "Stuntin' Like My Daddy" by Birdman & Lil Wayne), the rhymes are good too. Here's the write-up on Boston rapper Frankie Wainwright:
Frank is no stranger to the stage. His current relationship with renowned Boston independent label Team 220 Records was born after label head Big C.E.O. Red witnessed homeboy bust down more than two-dozen rappers three weeks in a row to claim the crown at Mattapan Square’s Bourbon St. Battle.
Since his days of rhyming with the Pinnakul crew in his namesake Wainwright Park outside Dorchester’s Codman Square section, heads around Beantown have been hip to Frankie’s superior rhyme abilities. His appearances on compilations such as Roy Barboza and Funkmaster Flex’s Running with a Kingpin, DJ Geespin’s Launchpad to the Streets and the Wildboy Twoface and DJ Clinton Sparks-mixed Boston’s Elite Pt. 1 further helped cement his reputation.
Now, with a 32-track mixtape debut on the street, cats now know that Frank can successfully translate his ruthless blacktop style onto record. Man on Fire is stacked with hopeful tales from a city in despair. Over riveting Golden Age and contemporary backdrops courtesy of Nelly ProTools, Mass Pike Miles and other top notch Boston beatmakers, Frankie delivers emotional cinder blocks that hardly romanticize his native streets. If you liked the song above, download Frankie Wainwright's mixtape, Man on Fire, and checkout his Myspace.
