Contest: Win tickets to Strange Talk & The Griswolds at The Satellite Thursday

Short link
Courtesy of Wind-Up Records, they've given us two tickets to giveaway for Thursday's show to see two rising bands out of Australia, including one of my absolute favorite acts, Strange Talk and another I've slowly become a fan of, The Griswolds. To win 2 tickets to see Strange Talk and The Griswolds this Thursday at The Satellite, email with subject CONTEST and mention why you deserve tickets to see both Australian acts at the Satellite on Thursday. Contest ends Thursday at noon PST and if you don't win, I highly recommend going to the show, more details on it here. Below read more about both bands including links to my favorite songs from each! Strange Talk will release their self-produced Wind-up Records debut album Cast Away early 2014.  All songs were mixed by Tony Hoffer (M83, Phoenix) with the exception of “Climbing Walls,” “Eskimo Boy” and “Is It Real?” which were mixed by Eliot James (Bloc Party, Two Door Cinema Club). Their debut single, “Climbing Walls” (approaching 1 million views!!!) is on the radio now but deserves more plays in America.  The buzz has been building since the release of their self-titled 2011 EP (Wind-up released an updated version of this EP June 4, 2013). They reached the #1 spot on Billboard’s Uncharted chart with “Climbing Walls” in the United States; the music video for that song was also part of a hugely successful Cheer laundry detergent campaign “Dig It. Get It” in the United States and Canada which made it the first-ever music video to feature hidden rewards to be found within it. Here's a FREE download of "Another Day". Get ready for their album with their lead single, "Cast Away", below. Strange Talk - Cast Away from Strange Talk on Vimeo. The Griswolds will also be releasing their debut album in 2014.  Their infectious melodies and catchy tunes has everyone from triple j radio, Australia’s premiere alternative radio station, to the blogosphere talking about their joyful sounds which has been compared to Vampire Weekend, Friendly Fires and The Strokes. Upon the release of their single “Heart of a Lion” in Australia, it was immediately added into high rotation on triple j and ended 2012 as one of the station’s most played tracks of the year. The international airwaves were quick to take notice with the song attracting airplay in over 20 countries worldwide. Stream and download my three favorites from a band I'd consider a major "Hidden Gem" to keep an eye on!
